Bio
This piece was first started in 2023 when a group of rangatahi from Tāiki E! Next Gen made paper with slash found on the beach after Cyclone Gabriel. years later, In response to the Mō Wai kaupapa, a few came together to create this work.
Whiona Tait Walker is a multimedia artist who works with mostly acrylic and graphite. She grew up in te ao Maori where her passion for art was ignited.
Te Waiotu is a practitioner in Maori visual art using contemporary mediums like acrylic and natural materials from the moana. She spends most of her time surfing and connecting with the waves and whanau.
Steph Barnett is an artist who works predominantly in experimental animation. She teaches Arts and Design at the Eastern Institute of Technology and is part of the Tāiki E! Impact House whānau.
