Veronika Lambert
Bio
Veronika grew up at the foothills of the Bavarian Alps - a majestic and awe-inspiring landscape of mountains, lakes and moors. She always enjoyed travelling and experiencing new places and cultures. In 2007 she moved to New Zealand, met her husband and settled on the East Coast in the small seaside town of Okitu, just out of Gisborne. Here, with the ocean at her doorsteps she started painting in 2021. Veronika's Art is deeply inspired by the Pacific Ocean, its moods and changing colors, and the bays and beaches of New Zealand, which she captures in her seascapes in oils and acrylics. "There is something about the sea - it creates creativity. I am fortunate to live at the beach and wake up with the sun rising over the ocean. Its ever-changing beauty inspires me to pick up the paintbrush and create." Veronika Lambert.Veronika finds her inspiration while exploring the New Zealand coastline and Tairawhiti's beautiful beaches. She enjoys painting with oil colours, as they allow her to blend and move paint on the canvas to create the atmospheric effects we often experience on the coast. Her works often evoke a sense of serenity and peace.
Description
‘When rivers flow’
Oil on canvas
20 x 30 inches
‘When rivers flow’ was born from Veronika’s ability to see beauty, even when the circumstances are dire. Every time a severe storm hits the region, the rivers overflow, taking with them sediments on their way to the sea and changing its colour to a milky olive green. This sedimentation causes havoc on the ocean floor, leading to the destruction of marine ecosystems and reducing the water quality.
Around the time when Cyclone Gabrielle hit the region and the rivers were carrying vast quantities of sediments out to sea, Veronika was walking on the beach, contemplating the destructive impacts of sedimentation on the bay's ecosystem and its marine life, while at the same time being unable not to marvel at the stunning hues and beautiful colours the destruction was producing.
As a result of this walk ‘When rivers flow’ was created.
